LabBuddy | How to manage students groups in LabBuddy

This manual explains how to import student groups from Brightspace. Before importing new groups in LabBuddy, it could be needed to empty groups from previous years.

This article shows how to:

Remove old groups from the ExperD

Before importing new groups, it is handy (but not necessary) to remove old groups from the ExperD. Take the following steps to remove groups from the ExperD:

Open the ExperD you want to grant students access to:

  1. Click on Edit icon of the ExperD
1.Open the Edit window of this ExperD
  1. Click on Users/Groups
  1. Scroll down to the Groups section
  2. Select the groups in the [right box]
  3. Move these groups to the [left box] using the arrow
  1. Scroll down and click on the Save button

The groups are removed from the ExperD, but the groups and the data still exist. To bring the groups back to the ExperD, follow the same steps. In step 5, move the groups from the left box to the right box and click Save.

Import student Groups from Brightspace

In general, lecturers want students to work in ExperD in groups. Create these groups in Brightspace (self-enroll or made by lecturer). To avoid confusion, it is strongly recommended to give these groups unique names. For example: group 1 - ABC10306 - 22/23

For more information on how to create a Group in Brightspace, please visit: Groups | How to create a Brightspace Group

When groups with a unique name are made in Brightspace (self-enroll or made by lecturer), you can import them in LabBuddy.

Importing student groups from Brightspace can be implemented only to ExperD’s that do not have the box Allow access for all users to this ExperD ticked. More info here: Students work in LabBuddy individually.

  3. Click Groups overview

Search for the group that needs to be changed

3.    Click on the name of the group that needs to be changed

On the page that opens

4.    Click on the +Add button to add existing users

5.    Click on Remove to remove users
